Complete Digital Photography Fourth Edition Graphics Series

Complete Digital Photography has become a classic book for helping traditional photographers move to digital! It’s also the book of choice for many new digital photographers who want to learn how to take great digital photos. Now in its 4th edition, this bestseller has been fine-tuned and updated to provide the most current information available. Covering everything from the inner workings of the camera to the subtle intricacies of image editing software, the book is divided into four sections. The first section provides the basic technical foundation needed throughout the rest of the book. It details the basics of how digital cameras work and provides a quick photography primer. The second part explores everything needed to make an informed decision about which camera, computer, and software to choose. Section three has been thoroughly updated and expanded to cover the nitty gritty of shooting, including metering, choosing the right exposure, using histograms, flash photography, and much more. And the final section, teaches the latest digital editing and correction techniques, including new coverage of workflow and raw conversion.

5 Stars Great guide, but it is a bit overwhelming to the beginner
I am new to the field of SLR photography. This book is for the person who is willing to commit to learning all the aspects of digital photography. It can be a bit overwhelming, especially compared to point-and-shoot photography. I find I need to reread sections of this book several times. I recommend reading a section and then immediately practicing the skill.
3 Stars Good, but too Adobe
I am a semi-professional film photographer having published 100 or so images and am making the transition to digital. I am also interested in keeping the cost down, especially for software. The book is well-bound on high quality paper. It is helpful but I find its emphasis on Photo$hop annoying. He claims to be software agnostic but virtually every software manipulation example uses Photoshop. He spends considerable space on hardware, which is changing so rapidly I wonder if the info will stand the test of time. Otherwise, I found this better than some other books I read, more thorough and with details on workflow and improving image quality that are easily followed.
5 Stars Complete Digital Photograpy
Book is straightforward and detailed. Many illustrations make it a practical book for novice and advanced amateur alike. Plenty of info on image prep for output as well.

4 Stars Excellent novice book
This is an introduction to digital photography book that you can read from cover to cover (I did). I just purchased my first DSLR after many point & shoot cameras and I believe it’s vital to know the info covered in this book in order to upgrade your photography skills to match your new equipment.
Highly recommended.
