The Olympus Magellan 8×42 EXPWP I is an outdoor binocular for the extreme enthusiast. The powerful binoculars are waterproof, dirtproof, and fogproof, making them ideal for activities like hiking, boating, and camping. The binocular also features 8x magnification, high index BaK-4 prisms for bright, crisp, edge-to-edge images, slim and stylish ergonomic design, fully multi-coated lenses for maximum image brightness and contrast, and phase and UV coating. Long eye-relief with twist-up down eyepieces and a large center-focus knob make for comfortable, fast, and easy focusing. The built-in dioptric correction adjusts to individual eyesight.

User Ratings and Reviews

4 Stars most bang for the buck
I am not a binocular expert, just someone who wants a good product at a decent price. The image quality is totally acceptable in my opinion. The lense covers dont stay on though. I was set on either the Nikon Monarchs or Leupold Cascade 8×42’s and then I looked at the Olympus. Similar features at almost half the price. I am completely pleased with this purchase.

4 Stars Better for chartering
I bought these to replace my standard 7×50 bins which are normally recommended for sailors. But they were bulky to take in my luggage – these are much more convenient and so far work just fine – but haven’t tried them out on rolling deck yet!

5 Stars Best binocular for the price
These Olympus Magellan EXPWP 8×42 binoculars are the best binoculars out there in this price range. I visited several stores and tried many models in the $200-300 range, including Nikon, Pentax, etc. This 8×42 model came highly recommended and are probably a better all around choice then the 10×42 model. I also did many hours of internet research, reading reviews, comparing features, etc. Several professional reviews say that to get a pair of binoculars that are noticeably better than these, you will probably have to spend at least $500.00+ for a German made pair.

When people try my binoculars, the first thing they say is “WOW!”. The image is that good – crisp and clear to the edges. I use them for sightseeing on vacations, at stadium sporting events, bird watching, etc. They are light and easy to hold and use. (Just don’t forget to twist-out the eye cups first if you don’t wear glasses.) While visiting my wife’s family in the Caribbean, my father-in-law liked them so much that ended up giving him my pair. So now I am replacing them with Amazon (best price).

If you can afford to spend this much on binoculars, get these and don’t buy the less expensive, inferior binoculars. You will notice a big difference the second you look through them and they are well worth every dollar. Do your own research if you like, and try them out. I’m sure you will agree that these are the best value, with the most features in this price range. These are an excellent pair of binoculars. Cheers!
