User Ratings and Reviews

1 Star Quickly ceases to function
I’ve been attempting to be a satisfied user of this microSD reader for some time now. Despite my best efforts, I am now resorting to writing this review, as there seems to be no escaping the conclusion that this product does not work.

I originally bought one of these as part of Kingston’s 8GB mobility kit. It worked fine for about 2 weeks. During this time, I probably swapped my card out of the USB reader into the SD adapter and back, maybe once a day. After about 2 weeks, machines stopped recognizing the card when I was using it with the USB reader. The card itself was still fine. I tried several different machines. I tried reseating the card. I tried to look for dust or debris on the contacts. Nothing helped.

Kingston technical support was very responsive, in that they swapped my defective reader for a replacement promptly. The replacement also worked, for about 1 week, under the same conditions of use. Then I had the same problems again.

I decided to try one more replacement, which Kingston technical support was glad to provide. This time, because I really just want to access my data, I decided to leave the card in the USB reader. No more swapping in and out to use the SD adapter. Things worked OK for maybe 3 weeks or so. Today the reader has ceased to function yet again.

I am forced to conclude that this USB reader just does not function reliably. If you are looking to have reliable USB access to the data you carry on your microSD/microSDHC cards, I have to advise that you look elsewhere.

5 Stars Great
Great little device. Does everything it’s intended to do. Plugged it into my Windows XP computer and it was immediately recognized. I had no issue removing the micro card, as some other reviewers seemed to have. Only issue for me was that it took me a minute or two to figure out that the unit pulls out from its shell, exposing the actual device that plugs into USB. This was not immediately apparent to me, and the diagram on back of package was not very clear. As usual these days, there were no words, only pictures. Other than this, I found this device to be everything I expected it to be.

4 Stars Nice little accessory to have
This little USB card reader works great. I have found similar USB card readers at other sites for a little bit cheaper but it takes over 2 weeks to get stuff from the other sites. I used Super Saver Shipping and got this in the mail 2 days after ordering! It would be nice it the MicroSD slot was spring loaded as it can be difficult to get the card out sometimes but other than that I don’t have have complaints. It’s pretty nice because any computer that was made in the past 10 years or more has at last 1 USB slot but very few have MicroSD card readers.

5 Stars Protects your Micro SD while you carry it, too.
This product works great, is small, and protects whatever micro SD card you have in it while traveling. Micro SD card fits snug, no worries about it coming out during transport. There are no activity lights to go off blinking during data transfer, so it isn’t annoying and wasting energy. It’s not bulky, and is a definite must have for savvy folk on the go.

5 Stars Kingston rocks
These are a great alternative to using cables to sync music to your phone. Nice if you dont have a multi card-reader on your pc. No problems with different card sizes 2gb micro sd up to 8gb micro sdhc
