I purchased this camera after losing my Sony P200 (which I liked very much). By appearances the camera looked good, and it was compact and simple to use. The problem came when you actually took a picture. I had read in another review that the 180 made pictures look “oily”. I really didn’t give this review much thought until looking at the pictures I took. In addition to poor low light (indoor) pictures, many of the pictures did in fact have an “oily” appearance. Faces looked as if individuals had been working up a sweat at the gym. This also occurred in pictures not containing people, for instance, wood also had an oily appearance. I might have tolerated the poor indoor picture quality, but the weird oily pictures were too much. I took the camera back and purcahsed a Canon SD1200 IS, with which I am totally satisfied. If you want decent pictures, I’d look at something other than the Sony DSC180.

I have owned a previous Sony and loved it, but this camera is terrible. It takes 2 to 3 seconds to take a picture. It is unnatural to use. Just like the other Sony and Cannon cameras, you put your finger on the button, and it focuses and is ready to go, right? Wrong. You depress the button further and it takes another 2 seconds to click. I can’t get good pictures of my kids since its too slow. I am going to give this one away and buy a better camera. I should have listened to the other raters on Amazon who rated this camera a pass. These reviews are never wrong in aggregate.

The camera arrived quickly. It takes great pics and is very userfriendly to download pics to my computer.

Though I didn’t find any reviews on any site about this camera, I bought this camera thinking that Sony makes best camera.

Bad points-

1- Picture quality is horrible. There was no sharpness in the picture.

2- Lenses make loud weird noise when you click a picture.

Good Points-

Camera is sleek and compact, easy to use.Look wise its great.

As soon as i got this camera, i clicked around 50 pictures with auto mode. None of them were good. I tried all settings and mode but in vain. Video quality was very bad.

I returned this camera to Amazon next day itself. I would not recommend anyone to buy this camera. Now i know why did i not see any reviews on any site(may be no one bought this camera).
